Access to Justice 2024
9/26/2024 - MidPenn held its annual Access to Justice Awards at the Mount Nittany Overlook Event Center on September 26. The event is a celebration honoring members of the legal profession who have made significant contributions toward achieving equal justice for all members of the community. Susan Bardo, Esq. from Penn State Law received the Donald F.Smith, Jr. Pro Bono Award. Mazza Law Group, P.C. received the Law Firm of the Year award. Mark Weaver, Esq. accepted on behalf of Mazza Law Group, P.C.

Lancaster Bar Check Presentation
10/1/2024 - At the Lancaster Bar Association's open house on October 1, MidPenn was presented with a check to support our Family Law attorney in Lancaster County. Support from the Bar ensures that more Lancaster County families get meaningful access to the justice system. MidPenn Managing Attorney Stephanie Longenberger accepted the check on behalf of MidPenn.

Milkshake Days
5/21/2024 - The PA Dairymen's Association were at the Dauphin County Bar Association's parking lot (behind our Harrisburg office) on May 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. selling Farm Show Milkshakes. Proceeds went to support the 2024 Astonishing Advocates who are raising money to help provide legal services for families in need.

York County Expungement/Pardon Clinic
July 12, 2023 - MidPenn Attorney Yinet Perez Vega took part in an Expungement and Pardon Clinic in York County. Yinet worked with the Pardon Project of York County along with The Program "It's About Change", the York County (PA) Bar Association/York County Bar Foundation and the York County Clerk of Courts to help 50 individuals seeking a fresh start.

I.D.E.A.L. Breakfast
June 6, 2023 - On June 6, 2023, MidPenn Legal Services’ Justice & Equity Center hosted the I.D.E.A.L. (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility in Legal Aid) breakfast event. This event was an important step towards initiating conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) issues from a civil legal aid perspective in Lancaster County. With an esteemed panel of speakers, Deborah D. Vereen, Fran Rodriguez and Arlene Marshall-Hockensmith, Esq., attendees had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the complexities of DEI issues and to become more effective advocates in their communities.

Language Justice Training
May 2023 - Attorneys Yinet Perez Vega and Nick Matash were two of MidPenn's attorney staff conducting training for interpreters with the International Service Center. The trainings conducted throughout May focused on civil legal aid issues. Having a basic understanding of these issues and related terminology will aid the interpreters as they work with individuals seeking legal assistance.

Expungement Clinic
MidPenn Attorneys Judith Kline and Angelica Matias at the expungement and pardon clinic. The event took place at the DoubleTree in Reading and was hosted by Magisterial District Judges Tonya Butler and Carissa Johnson. The event was sponsored by state Sen. Judy Schwank, Berks Connections/Pretrial Services, MidPenn Legal Services, and the Berks County Bar Association. 107 Berks County residents attended and received assistance at Thursday evenings expungement and pardon clinic.
